Downtown Arthur

There are three parks located in the Village of Arthur - the E. L. Jurgens Park, Eberhardt Park, and the Dorothy Jurgens Village Park.  The E. L. Jurgens Park is located on the south edge of town.  This park is the location for the Moultrie-Douglas County Fair, the annual Fireworks Display, the Arthur Community Swimming Pool, tennis courts and ball diamonds.  Eberhardt Park is located at the southwest edge of the Village.  Eberhardt Park is strictly for picnicking with three large pavilions and playground equipment.  At Christmas time, Eberhardt Park becomes a winter wonderland with all the lights and decorations.  The jewel of the downtown area is the Dorothy Jurgens Village Park.  It is located on the corner of Illinois & Walnut Streets.  This park was donated to the Village in honor of Dorothy

Jurgens by her family.  A quiet, serene and beautiful area that lets you relax and walk through the many flower beds and plantings gives you a sense of peace and tranquility and lets each visitor get a glimpse of the warm and loving person that Mrs. Jurgens was.
