Arthur has always been a very enterprising town, growing to its present size of 2,203.  Besides being blessed with a solid industrial and retail base, Arthur provides a high quality of life to its residents, second to none.  Our academic standing in the state is high.  Arthur Community Unit School District #305 is made up of a grade school and both junior and senior high schools.  About one-third of the Amish children attend public school and the others attend one of the 15 or so parochial schools in the area. There are also two Mennonite parochial schools, grades 1-12 in the area.

Arthur has a fine public library that encompasses the entire school district.  The current library was built in 1991 and is computerized with numerous facilites for their visitors.  It is part of the Lincoln Trail Library System.

Arthur is a very attractive community with a number of civic organizations that all work well together.  One of the largest and most impressive events is the annual Fireworks Display sponsored by our Rotary Club organization.
