The jewell of the downtown area is the Dorothy B. Jurgens Garden Park. It is located on the corner of Illinois and Walnut Streets, adjacent to Vine Street, the main downtown street. This park was donated in honor of Dorothy B. Jurgens to the Village of Arthur by her family. Mrs. Jurgens was a special woman who truly cared about this community. You will find a pergola to sit on for relaxation and to enjoy the beauty of this park and our community. Along the winding paths throughout the park you will find numerous beautiful flowers and plants. We hope you will take the time to visit this treasure.
A plaque mounted on a stone in the southwest corner of the park notes the name of the park, "Dorothy B. Jurgens Garden Park" and bears a quote from John Keats, "A thing of beauty is a joy forever."Back
