Water Department

The Village of Arthur is the provider of water service to the residents of Arthur.

In 2003, a new 600 gallon per minute water plant facility was completed.  Presently, Arthur is using about one third of this capacity a day.  The average water pumpage from the wells is approximately 250,000 - 350,000 gallons per day.

Our plant draws groundwater from three wells which is fed into an aerator to remove hydrogen sulfide,  methane, and oxidize iron.  The water is then passed through micro-filters to remove iron and arsenic.  These filters backwash to remove all build up of solids.  The filtered water is finally softened and then treated again with chlorine and fluoride before being passed to the finished water storage tank and pumped out into the distribution system.
